It looked like a great game to me. I was thinking about whether it was worth purchasing or not. I already have Assassin's Creed Odyssey, so if this code is correct, Origins would just be an extra.
I’d probably choose Origins. I’m in the same situation, enjoy Odyssey and like it, and I’m hoping to get Origins soon. From what I’ve noticed, it’s better made from a storytelling perspective, but Odyssey offers a larger world and some gameplay upgrades compared to Origins.
I've seen Odyssey compared to the Ancient Greece version of Origins from a gameplay series perspective. I found it very enjoyable.
You'd likely enjoy Egypt as well, since it had Greek and Roman divisions there too. I'd prefer a completely ancient Roman air conditioning system. I didn't like the in-game purchases for AC, but the game works fine without them—it's just a little bothersome.
Yep. Origins is the predecessor to Odyssey, sharing a similar gameplay with minor variations, and takes place in ancient Egypt. Based on what I've noticed, the focus is on the first Assassin, the figure who initiated the brotherhood or creed. From historical perspectives, Odyssey actually predates Origins, so you're playing as a mercenary encountering remnants of an ancient civilization—though not an Assassin, the character you control in Origins began it all. I suggest watching a timeline video to fully grasp the story. In modern times, Origins was examined before Odyssey by the character linked to the animus phenomenon, but historically, Odyssey comes first. It's quite complex, so once I settle in, I'll dive deeper to understand the franchise better and enjoy exploring its lore.
The main issue with these games is their high performance demand; even a 1070 graphics card is necessary to achieve 1080p60 at maximum settings.
Less reliant on the GPU than the CPU, though you'll likely need at least a 1070. You haven't tested anything lower yet. But it struggles with my X58 Xeon even with a 1080 Ti because it's from 2011 and has significantly less IPC compared to newer models. My laptop with an 8700K and 1070 handles 60fps consistently across most tasks, though performance drops to around 57fps in demanding situations like Athens and Odyssey. I still find it smooth overall, using triple buffering and capping at 60fps, with only minor stutter when many players are active together.
