Hi everyone, I was exploring my options for a CPU upgrade down the line ( 2-3 months from now ) and i would like some additional opinions. So my CPU is the R5 1600 which is watercooled via an AIO and i had previously overvlocked to 4.2Ghz. I do simulation for my programming projects ( android ), 3D modeling/rendering, some video editting sometimes and casual gaming. I am very satisfied with my gaming experience but i lack in the other tasks, especially in 3D modeling/rendering. I was looking at the R7 5800X3D or the R9 5900X which go for the same price here and i would also upgrade my mobo. I was also looking potentially for the R7 7700 but the cost of the mobo and ram is kinda high. What would you guys suggest?

R5 1600 paired with 6900 XT seems to face a significant limitation. What's your budget? I don’t have much experience with 3D modeling or rendering, but since they rely on CPU processing and you’re comfortable with gaming performance, 5800X3D is clearly not an option.

I don't have a fixed budget since I need funds for work (I'll adjust if needed). The issue isn't primarily CPU-heavy; it's more about the GPU being limited. You mentioned the R9 model, which is good because it offers better performance for 3D tasks.

Your motherboard model is unknown at this time. Could you please share it so I can check compatibility with your CPU?

it isn't an MSI B350M MORTAR ARCTIC. I was checking out the ASUS TUF B550 which fits the 5000 series. It's about 150 euros here, and the R9 5900X is for a 340 new unit (I haven't explored the used market yet; I like to stick to current prices for my planning).
