You can observe the images to compare the positions of the outlets relative to your PS5. In the first shot, the outlet sits roughly 3 to 4 feet in front and slightly lower than the console. The second image shows it a bit higher and further back, still on the opposite wall side. Both are around 15 to 20 feet away from the router.
Both spots should provide similar results. Your current WiFi booster is roughly 15 feet from your router, positioned under your desk, close to your computer, and about 5 feet from the work laptop. There are no connectivity problems reported from either device.
You require a WiFi extender near the device because it won't significantly improve performance compared to the console's own antenna. Extenders usually introduce delays and reduce speed unless they're connected via wired link or a dedicated wireless channel.
I understand both sources should function well, but do you require a Wi-Fi extender placed 20 feet away from your router? If your PS5 has weak signal, it might be due to interference in your home. We experienced an old microwave disrupting the Wi-Fi, and a repeater didn’t resolve the issue.
