I recently started using Starlink and it works well, but the latency bothers me. My average is about 60ms, and I’m aiming for under 20ms. I’ve tried a VPN and direct wiring, but nothing changed much. Anyone have ideas?

Follow these easy instructions to set up your dish properly and clean it when needed. Check the area above for any obstructions like trees or objects, and verify your firmware is up to date. Remember, achieving 20ms is very difficult. Contact Starlink support if you need help.

Ping often falls outside your influence. Satellite connections typically show response times in the thousands of milliseconds. Starlink’s performance of 60ms is quite remarkable. Usually, the fastest connections are fiber-optic networks; DSL can also provide decent latency. I receive around 13ms with a coaxial service. LTE or 5G might offer better speeds but it depends on your surroundings. In reality, there’s little you can truly control. Adjusting the antenna position could help, though reaching 20ms is unlikely.

You'll likely achieve around 20ms at best under optimal conditions, especially during low-demand times.
