In my view, it's very costly—especially the RAM—and the AM4 still performs quite well. I recently built one in November 2022, and I can confidently say it hasn't hurt in any way. If you're looking for a 50% speed boost, it's not worth the investment. Personally, I don't buy gear just because it's new; my old setup works fine. Right now, there aren't any solid reasons to switch to a new motherboard.

It's an AM5 chip with long-term reliability, offering better endurance than Am4 or Intel 13. Since most users don’t require extra features, adding $100 to a 7900 makes sense.

I don't think I need it right away given the higher cost. It might take a few years before DDR5 prices fall, so I'll wait and see. I could even switch back to Intel if I'm unsure about AMD's support for faster RAM on their boards.

I was taken aback by how affordable DDR5 is right now, almost matching the prices of DDR4. You can find a solid B650 board for around 200 dollars. I'm thinking about upgrading to a 7800x3d and a budget B650 like the Gigabyte B650 Gaming X.

You already have AM4, so upgrading isn't necessary. Consider going for a 5800x3d if you want better performance.
