Consider MOTHERBOARDS AM4 models featuring strong IOMMU configurations.
I purchased the Asrock B450 Fatal1ty ITX from my cousin at a discount, but it didn’t work well with my 4x 2.5G NIC on the Proxmox server because of missing IOMMU groups. I’m looking for an AM4 mATX board that would fit. I already have OPNsense running with six cores, and I’m currently using network bridging until a better option is found. The stress on the server increases during VLAN routing tasks. I also bought a Mikrotik switch, but the pings seem too high when handling VLANs.
Generally, the boards offering the strongest IOMMU support are the X570 models, especially the higher-end ones, though availability in mATX form can be uncertain. The ASRock X570M Pro4 is the main contender, but I can't assure its performance. A suitable mATX board for IOMMU would likely be this one.
I can transfer my onboard nic to virtual machines easily. I think I only added this kernel setting to my bootloader. My B550 Pg riptide also suffers from poor IOMMU configuration. https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/PCI_Passthr..._isolation
