I assembled this system for roughly four years and have been experiencing lag in my games lately. I’m unsure whether I previously installed the motherboard drivers or not, and I’m considering a complete overhaul by reinstalling everything and using DDU to reset GPU drivers. Regarding your concerns, it’s generally safe to download drivers from the manufacturer’s site, including BIOS updates, as long as you’re using the official source. Redownloading after a previous installation usually won’t cause issues unless there were conflicts or corrupted files. If you’re unsure about which drivers to install, start with the latest version and check compatibility before proceeding.

The manufacturer's site is the best source for downloading and installing drivers and BIOS. Updating them is completely safe.

Completely secure, yet I’d just update the BIOS if it resolves an issue you’re having and you’re confident your power supply is reliable. For everything else, I only add audio and chipset drivers.

The latest BIOS update claims compatibility with Windows 11, but your i7 7700K isn’t listed as supported. Consider updating the BIOS anyway. You’ve also experienced stuttering in games, which might be related to performance improvements or stability fixes.
