I bought the RTX 2070 Super to enhance my GTX 1060 and upgraded my power supply from 520W bronze to 750W gold. I have about $800 left for more upgrades. I’m considering the Ryzen 5 2600 → Ryzen 5 3600 MSI B350 MORTAR → GIGABYTE B550 AORUS PRO TFORCE 8GBX2 3200 with retention options. I also plan to add an XPG SX6000 PRO 256GB PCIe NVME M.2 Kingston 250GB SSD, a Seagate 1TB drive, and a WD 500GB drive. The GTX 1060 Jetstream is still in use, so a Ryzen 7 seems excessive for my needs. Any suggestions for alternative paths? Thanks!
Ensure you have a 2600 first; once Zen 3 is available, review its features before deciding your upgrade path. Consider alternatives like the B550 A Pro, Tomahawk, or Strix F—each offers solid performance. If you can't secure Zen 3, opt for a 3600 and apply BIOS updates to the B350 Mortar.
I’d really like to keep an eye on the upcoming AMD CPUs and their pricing and performance. It would make sense since you’re aware that the second generation models will likely drop in price or become available at lower costs on used platforms due to high demand for the latest releases.
