We aren't sure yet, but it's likely to change. The 10th-gen intel parts appear more affordable for budget systems now. Still, quicker and cheaper options will emerge later.

Currently, AMD processors aren't showing any signs of a cheaper CPU lineup soon. Even if one appeared, it would likely be available instantly online.

I dislike Intel because of these issues: locked CPU and chipset unless you pay extra to unlock, even with a low number of cores, changing the CPU socket without reason, and tiny IPC compared to later generations (2nd to 7th gen improvements are too slow). That’s why I stopped considering Intel.

You receive similar or more cores for the same cost. The 10400 offers better value compared to models like the 3600/5600. For current builds, the 10700 seems like a stronger option.

They still handled it quite effectively to remain competitive with 7nm chiplets designs... the i5 features six cores with hyperthreading, matching the Ryzen 5's capabilities. They stick to a socket that supports typically two generations, which isn't much but better than any previous generation. You should also look at what's in stock and choose the best option within your budget... for me, it was an Intel i5 10600K since the Tyzen 5 5600X wasn't available, and the i5 performed better in games compared to the Ryzen 5 3600, even though they were priced similarly.

The results clearly show the performance. The 10th gen Intel is only marginally inferior to the 5th gen AMD, yet you can't find a 5th gen Ryzen, making Intel the best value option. The same applies to the 3rd gen AMD when it was first released. Slightly slower than the 9th gen Intel, but better pricing and availability led me to favor it more often due to its superior value. The 3rd gen might be a solid choice depending on your location.

You have everything available at your disposal right now. If you require a computer and don’t own one, simply acquire it. None of the current options are truly flawed, and you’d be content with most offerings from either the 10 series or the 3000 series onward.

Intel's upcoming 11th generation chips are expected soon, likely within a couple of weeks. They usually release multiple models together, and with the reported 19% performance increase, even a Core i3 would stand out—provided the pricing is favorable.

Maybe it's not just a paper release.
