Your Ryzen 3600X setup looks solid for both video editing and gaming. A 1950X offers better performance and more RAM options, which could really boost your workflow. With a friend’s extra TR4 motherboard, you’ll have the flexibility to upgrade components as needed. It’s a smart move if you want to stay competitive and future-proof your system.

A 3900X fits better unless you spot an exceptional offer. It appears similar to the 1950X in price, with the 3900X offering stronger single-core performance. For video editing, the 1950X seems preferable when it can utilize all cores, while the 3900X shines if it has a capable board. For gaming, the 3900X consistently outperforms. Additionally, if you own a top-tier board now, you might not need to upgrade for the 3900X. The 1950X remains a solid option, but newer Ryzen AM4 CPUs provide strong competition in core tasks.

It's a great opportunity if you're receiving the board for free or at a significant discount. Look for a refurbished TR CPU, as this would enhance your savings. Avoid concerns about missing a stock cooler.

I own a 100$ B450 motherboard, I’m looking for a replacement with no specific core requirements.

You'd better stick to light gaming on a low refresh display. It's really disappointing.

It's really poor. I scored a 144 and mostly play games like Rust. Would it be possible with a 1080 Ti?

They might be able to assist. He owns a 1950X, a 2950X, and a 3900X, so he can share his personal insights.

The 1950X performs poorly in most areas except for productivity. We now understand it’s no longer viable, making it a poor choice. Others suggest the 3900X would be a much superior upgrade.

They remain quite expensive, yet my 3900X performs similarly or better in single-threaded tasks while outperforming it in multi-threaded applications. I’d only suggest the 2950X if you specifically require PCIe lanes.
