Hello everyone, I own a Ryzen 5 3600 and an RTX 2070. I’m thinking about boosting my RAM from 16 to 32 GB soon and wondered if there’s an AM4 CPU worth the investment. I’m using 1440p and enjoy a variety of games—fps, RPGs, indie titles. I’m eyeing a GTX 5700 XT for 125€ or a GTX 5800 XT for 160€. Is it really worth upgrading in terms of performance and FPS? A new GPU would help a lot, but my budget isn’t that flexible right now.
It would be useful to aim for realistic improvements rather than unrealistically high FPS numbers. Since GPUs play the biggest role in performance, focusing on them makes sense. If a CPU is available at a discount, consider upgrading it first, then invest in a GPU later.
I wouldn't bother upgrading unless necessary, but your requirements might vary. In many games at 1440p, the main limitation would be the graphics card, and you'd rarely notice a difference between a 3600 and a 5700x or 5800x.
You're asking about your particular titles. With a 1440p GPU, it's usually the top choice for upgrading most often.
