Hello, I'm planning to upgrade my RAM to 32GB. I checked the Qvl list to see if the desired model is available. The 2x8GB kit was listed, but the 2x16GB version for the same model wasn't. Would a 16x2 setup be possible? My current specs: Mobo: Asus TUF B450M Plus gaming. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600. I currently have G.skill Aegis 3200MHz (can run at 2133 overclock, boots into safe mode or doesn't start). I want to get G.skill Trident Z 3000MHz.

Will you maintain the 2133 setting? If yes, purchasing a stick should likely be sufficient. For increased performance on that board, consider using 2x16GB and ensure you're using slots 2 and 4.

I’m trying to boost its speed. That’s why I’m upgrading to more RAM. The price for 32GB is almost the same as 16GB where I am, which is why I’m aiming for the bigger size. It’s installed in slots 2 and 4.

No, I'm not enabling XMP or performing manual overclocking.

Try manual overclocking to get Samsung B-die; otherwise use Crucial Ballsitix but watch out for 2nd gen Ryzen IMC limits above 3200MHz unless you're very lucky. Note: (confident this is Samsung B-die) G.Skill Flare X 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL14 Memory (F4-3200C14D-32GFX) - PCPartPicker Next: (if you prefer XMP and skip changes) Crucial Ballistix 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (BL2K16G32C16U4R) - PCPartPicker

I'm setting up D.O.C.P automatically, similar to XMP but specifically for Asus motherboards without manual configuration.

I'm asking if RAMs not listed on the Qvl still function with XMP. They're outside the list, can't exceed 2400, and I'm trying to install Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro White Edition but it's missing from the Qvl. That's why I'm seeking GSKill Trident Z RAM because I understand it should be there.

If it isn't listed in the QVL, the board might get mixed up and have awkward timing issues, which usually means an XMP profile could still help. Sometimes limitations from the board design or CPU memory controller come into play. Your choice between 4x8GB or 2x16GB matters—check your board’s preferences. If it seems to favor one over the other, consider whether you need a new CPU; otherwise, a 2x16GB might be a safer bet.

The CPU memory controller seems to be working properly. If not, I can process a refund for the CPU. I believe I’m unable to overclock my RAM due to this problem, not because of the board. The RAM was purchased in two sets of 1x8GB, and the 2x8GB kit wasn’t available. Could that be the reason?

I believe my board can handle 4 sticks in dual channel, which shouldn't affect performance whether there are two or four sticks.
