I need to reconsider the setup since only two rooms currently use cat5e cables. Upgrading to cat6A seems like a solid choice based on what I found online. For surveillance cameras and high-speed internet, you’ll want reliable switches that support 10Gbps. Look for models with robust connectivity and future-proofing options.

The link is a security camera setup. Even on Cat5e connections you won't run into issues. Avoid overspending on cabling—it's unnecessary. Just purchase a decent roll at a hardware store (it'll cost much less than Amazon) and stop there. For the 10G switch, use a standard single 10G port for compatible devices (if required). Later, if needed, you can swap these 20$ switches for more expensive ones. Also, are your security cameras compatible with PoE? If yes, invest in PoE switches for them.

Jaslion, you mentioned needing to install 10-15 cables both inside and outside, up and down. It's really stressful and takes a long time. I'm not looking to tackle this cabling job for years, so I want high-quality work right away. Swapping switches is simple, which means I need a POE switch that should suffice for now.

You'll also need outdoor Cat6 cables, since indoor ones wear out quickly. However, what are you aiming for? There are only a few makers producing Cat6, which means you might be being pushed into a higher price.

I’m sure cat6e is ready to go. I’ve been checking cat6a.Wait, I haven’t found any cat6a outdoor options yet. I’ll keep looking.
