Consider buying a suitable adapter for AM5 sockets.
Hello, I'm planning to purchase a 3900X and would appreciate some guidance on the motherboard. Since AM5 chips will be available in 2020/2021, should I opt for MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wifi or MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max? Considering the next-gen chips won't fit this socket, buying the B450 might be a better choice. With a BIOS update, it could work well and save costs. Or should I go with the MPG X570 for improved performance? Thanks!
there’s no major boost in performance from the x570 without using PCIe 4. the idea is that consoles aim for fast PCIe SSDs to make game loading smoother, especially if those titles run on PC. that could help if you port games to a PC later. personally, I’d expect speeds around 3600 or 3700x with a b450. if you’re also getting a new GPU, keep an eye on upcoming cards in September.
