Consider building your new PC with a Ryzen 7800X3D after 14 years.
Hey, I’m starting this PC build after a long wait. I haven’t been able to purchase or upgrade from my old one because of budget limits. I don’t want to overclock or add any RGB features.
For the motherboard, I’m considering MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk or MSI Pro B650-P. Which one supports AMD EXPO memory? From what I saw on the Tomahawk, it doesn’t have the same support as on other MSI boards. I was wondering if MSI is the right choice since I need more than four SATA ports, and I thought about going with Gigabyte instead. Also, I’m thinking about Gen 5 boards, but unless there’s a good deal on X670 models, I’ll hold off.
For the RAM, I’m curious about the Gskill Z5 model—what are its latency and frequency specs?
I was also considering an Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 or a 360 cooler, though I’m not sure if they’re available in Delhi.
My boot drive is a Samsung NVMe 990 Pro. What PSU would be suitable? I’m curious about the Corsair RM850x Shift series—do you think it’s okay? I’m not sure if it’s in stock here.
If needed, I might upgrade to a better GPU like an Nvidia 40-series model, especially when prices drop. Right now, my current 1650 Super is still a big investment, even before the pandemic.
Case 5000D looks good, but are there other options?
I’m aiming for a quiet system and keeping costs low, so I’ll only spend what’s necessary to get the best performance.
X670 motherboards are not essential for most users. The MSI MAG Tomahawk B650 offers great value with many features. For memory, consider the G.SKill Trident Z5 Neo kit—it delivers low latency, high speed, and is AMD Expo certified for optimal compatibility. If you can locate an Arctic Freezer nearby, choose it; otherwise, opt for a Corsair or Cooler Master model that fits your budget. Both are solid AIO options. Samsung's 990 Pro is a solid pick, but if you're on a tighter budget, the 980 Pro is a better alternative. The Corsiar RM850X works well, but the RM850e is preferable for its ATX 3.0 support, which can extend your PSU life. Case selection is personal, but the Corsair 5000D Airflow remains a strong recommendation. Hope this information is useful, stay safe.
I already have the rog crosshair X670e (expensive), but I intend to use it with an AM6 board that features a decent B650 with PCIe 5.0 x16. This setup will be future-proof for next-gen systems and GPU options. The Cl30 6000 is ideal for Zen 4, and I’m using the Gskil Z5 argb. The Arctic Freezer II is a solid choice; I recently rebuilt my PC with one, and it keeps my 7800X3D running smoothly. I run FireCPU 530s, Samsung 980 Pro, and a WD SN850 unless you plan to go with Gen 5 SSDs, which would need an X670 board and additional cooling. The performance improvements over the 990 and 980 are minimal and barely noticeable. In real-world load times, a WD SN850 in a 2TB or 4TB configuration can be obtained affordably and performs well. PSU-wise, since you haven’t specified the GPU, the recommendations remain general.
i'm not a hardcore gamer, but I'll be using it for gaming definitely. Right now I've got 1650 super bought during the pandemic when graphics cards were really costly. My budget is under $2k (excluding the graphics card). If needed, I might upgrade to a better GPU like an Nvidia 40XX later, especially when prices drop more.
I have an LG monitor that's 4K and 24 inches, which is quite good. My location is in India.
Based on your decision, I would consider a Ryzen 7700 CPU, a more affordable case like the Fractal Design Focus 2, and the MSI PRO B650-S WIFI. Allocate the savings to your graphics card.

guys ty for quick responses, with MSI boards i am hearing lot of issues regarding boot times being too high, maybe its still there even with current BIOS, i don't know, so what do u guys suggest?
so MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk or MSI Pro B650-P between this 2 will any make difference to boot time or can get any better board which has no issues.
i do need more than 4 sata ports on the board i am having multiple Sata SSDs.

I verified the article and confirmed it does not mention MSI boards experiencing boot issues with time lag, nor did it address whether such problems have been resolved.
