Consider building AdviceHelp for a 1080p gaming PC within the 899-1350 USD range.
I need some help assembling a reasonably affordable gaming PC that delivers good value. It will be used mainly for 1080p gaming and, to a lesser extent, music production. A close relative has already shared useful tips and advice, but we feel it’s worth seeking further guidance here. I’m based in Sweden.
I aim to run the newest AAA games in 1080p with a stable frame rate around 75-100 FPS, prioritizing performance over maximum graphics settings. Upgradability is also key.
Budget: between 10k and 15k SEK (about 899-1350 USD).
Case: Black or dark color, clean design, spacious enough for a few 3.5'' bays.
CPU options: AMD Ryzen 5 5600* or 7600, or an Intel CPU matching the above models. The latest AM5 socket (7600) looks appealing if it justifies the cost. Unless there’s a risk of failure, I won’t replace it.
Motherboard: Should support PCIe 5? We need room for one M.2 NVMe SSD and possibly two SATA ports. Built-in WiFi is preferred. I have several 3.5'' HDDs and require multiple SATA connections. ATX form factor seems best for compatibility and upgrades.
RAM: Should be 2x 8 GB DDR4 or DDR5? What specifications matter here?
GPU choice: Between the Nvidia RTX 4060 8GB and 4060 Ti 8GB. Is 8GB RAM enough for 1080p gaming? I lean toward Nvidia due to driver support and DLSS, but won’t use ray tracing.
HDD: A fast, reliable M.2 NVMe SSD (PCIe 4/5) with 1TB capacity.
Power supply: What power consumption do the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X and Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti require? We want flexibility to upgrade GPUs in a few years. A modular PSU would be ideal. Do you value an 80+ certification?
Cooling: What fan type is suitable for the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X? How many additional fans should we add? LED lighting isn’t necessary.
Thanks ahead of time!
For the 7600x (am5) setup you should use DDR5. It's best not to choose a GPU that you're considering. At 1080p, 8GB of RAM is starting to be a challenge, but the 6800xt offers 16GB of VRAM which should still suffice for 1080p in low or medium settings over the next decade.
The 120mm unit is positioned inside the rear of that enclosure for an exhaust solution.

AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT Review
The Radeon RX 7700 XT represents AMD’s newest mid-tier graphics card aimed at a $450 budget. Yet, even in theory we foresee some challenges with this model.

If you're targeting 1080p gaming, the 6750XT still delivers solid performance. It features a powerful cooler and is compatible with future upgrades to a 14700 MHz RAM module.
