Where are you located? For most, the 7800X3D is $339. The 7900X3D launched at $599, not $850. You sure you're talking about the correct CPUs? No idea on the Pro X vs AX. All I know is unless you need or want Gen 5 stuff, B650 is the way to go for AM5 as the boards are stout enough for even 7950X and the new 9xxx chips as well.
I narrowed down the PCPartPicker board selection to match my budget. I left out any boards smaller than ATX and any larger. Additionally, I removed all Asus models based on the criteria mentioned earlier.
Some sub 200 boards aren't necessarily bad—they're just a lot of mediocre ones. Over the past year, many manufacturers launched impressive products, but then released lower-quality models around 120-160 USD that didn’t hold up well. At launch, they looked good, but over time their performance faded, hoping reviews wouldn’t catch up.
