There are other options besides isopropyl alcohol for cleaning a CPU. Paper towels can work, though they may not be as effective. You might also consider using a mild detergent solution or a specialized CPU cleaner. Always ensure the method you choose is safe for your component.

Sanitize it using a dry cloth. Everything should work out.

Technically, you don’t need any IOS—it just simplifies the process and removes most debris. Using a coffee filter ensures nearly everything comes off, though a tiny bit may remain on the CPU, which shouldn’t impact performance.

Use a paper towel to remove most of the excess. Then switch to a material without fibers such as cloth or coffee filter, and wipe it clean with alcohol to eliminate any remaining residue. If the paste is hard, apply a bit more effort but avoid being too rough—just don’t slip and knock things loose.

Linus shared a video from earlier about using cleaning paste, trying various techniques. At the end, he confirmed that hard work always pays off.
