Check for potential problems before proceeding. Assess safety to decide if updating is advisable.

Microsoft will probably fix bugs as they become visible from regular users. By the time everything is resolved, another Windows update is expected that might cause more problems. Be mindful of potential issues by reviewing your privacy settings after an update—some changes can trigger Microsoft to send data and telemetry again. If you’re using anti-spy tools for Windows 10, they may stop working because updates now skip certain registry sections that those tools rely on. Barnacules provides thorough explanations. Recently I didn’t encounter any problems despite it being a major update, which felt like a full OS install (without selecting a partition or clearing data/config). Just avoid unplugging your PC during the process and you should be fine.

No previous problems addressed. I expected the taskbar glitch issue to be resolved during file deletion or on the desktop. This is what you should know if you're not aware of it.

I haven't encountered that problem before, but my slow internet upload speed was a concern and I was hoping it would be resolved. Since even Microsoft support couldn't assist, I'm planning a reinstall. Another challenge involves using dual monitors with varying refresh rates—these were the only issues I've experienced.

I've experienced similar problems with my monitor. Windows would disconnect the middle DP display in Display Settings, even though it worked with any cable like HDMI or DVI. It only connected when plugged in, and I couldn't turn it back on without a full reinstall—really frustrating. Your upload speed issue is also concerning; please fix it soon!

I haven’t noticed any major issues, though a few energy-saving options were cleared or needed adjustment since they weren’t in their original positions. Most affected them were display and graphics settings. I only realized changes after capturing a comparison image from a month prior when I upgraded my graphics card. Certain energy configurations seemed like they’d been reinstalled from the operating system.

I handle these big updates this way: since they take a long time, I prefer full control when my PC isn’t available for an hour and I want to back up my data before Windows interferes. I do this manually a week or so before actually starting the updates.

I'm really cautious about losing anything, so I always keep backups up. I store my photos, videos, documents, and more in Google Drive and external hard drives, keeping an extra copy on each drive just in case. Once I almost lost everything, it really made me more worried about data safety.

I’m nearing a decision to leave Windows 10 behind. A Hackintosh seems like a strong option. I’m wary of Microsoft’s reliability for consistent updates since those early reinstalls were necessary. Linux would be another choice, but it offers less software compatibility than macOS. Of course, breaking the EULA isn’t an issue here—this community is too rigid about it.
