I have a 1 gigabit connection via Beanfield, but my NIC on the Asus Z170-A with Intel I219-V isn’t working well. The connection drops when I stress it in TaskManager—Ethernet disappears and then comes back. I can’t complete SpeedTest.net tests without it staying up. From what I found online, this seems to be a known problem with the I219-V NIC, and no fix is available. I’m considering getting a PCIe Ethernet adapter that supports at least 1 gigabit. It’s not for anything serious like running a server; just a regular user. Any suggestions?

There seems to be no justification for the large budget. Currently, Gigabit NICs cost just about $10 to $20.

Have you explored trying a Linux distribution to rule out driver problems? Otherwise, the situation seems similar for your needs. This budget option works well https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-1000Mbps-...690&sr=8-2

@ProjectBox153 No justification for the budget. I was just browsing all the Amazon listings, found it hard reading different user reviews, then decided to check this out. @Electronics Wizardy I’m not sure how to test drivers on Linux. I’m hoping replacing the NIC is the easiest option. Thanks.

Create a bootable Linux USB, then perform a speed test. If successful, it may indicate a driver issue.
