Hello there, lovely individuals. A few months back I came up with a plan to assemble a PC using the X99 chipset. With limited research, I purchased an affordable Jingsha X99-GT motherboard paired with an i7 5820K processor. It faces challenges such as CS2 performance being nearly unusable, clock speeds hovering around 1.5GHz, and games freezing excessively. Fortnite behaves oddly—landing causes noticeable stuttering, clocks dip to about 2GHz, but once stable, it runs smoothly with normal frame rates. The CPU’s base clock should be 3.3GHz. Temperatures stay within safe limits, reaching roughly 60°C during Cinebench. Boot issues are present too; the system frequently freezes while loading the Windows logo for about a minute each boot cycle. After startup, speeds return to normal. I suspect these problems stem from overheating VRMs and insufficient power delivery on the board. Likely, a better option would be a micro ATX model. Right now, my local used market has few choices, so I’ll need to source from platforms like Aliexpress or similar Chinese sites.

Jingsha X99-GT motherboard with 2x16GB ECC DDR4 memory, 550W 80+bronze power supply, Logic Ports, ARGB case, RTX 2060 graphics, 6GB RAM. Running Windows 10, I did a fresh install and even reinstalled afterward. The components are quite old, but the CPUs are good deals—only about $15 for the i7. These boards are often matched with Xeon models, making Aliexpress a popular hub for such setups.

Use a fan over the VRM to assist with cooling. You can also slightly lower the core voltage to 1.05V or 1V low-voltage LLC mode based on CPU samples. Set the CPU multiplier to 36.
