16GB for gaming meets performance needs 95% of the time, especially when comparing benchmark videos with 32 to 16GB RAM. There’s a noticeable gap between 8 and 16GB. Sometimes this difference is due to lower CPU usage in 32GB setups, but if you’re okay with trade-offs, I’d prefer better cooling or an NVMe SSD over the extra 32GB. However, 32GB is significantly advantageous for tasks like photo editing, design work, or video rendering, since programs tend to use a lot of RAM until processing finishes.

I understand your point, but using the term "performance system" implies a certain standard I don’t think is necessary. I’ve seen older setups with 4x4GB (quad channel) and I’m not sure someone would opt for 2x8+2x4 to reach 24GB. The jump to 2x16 doesn’t seem like a big leap either, especially since moving from 16GB often results in 4x8GB.

Prices are low for RAMs right now. It’s best to grab a 32 without any second thoughts.

It really comes down to trading something else—like a bigger SSD or a more powerful GPU. If you can't do that, just go for it and install 32GB.
