It's a bit daunting, if you are not comfortable just OC with a good cooler and that will suffice. I saw decent performance upgrades but it is not for everyone. If you have PC building fever just get a new case and sell your old one. I used to do that all the time. Fun way to re-build an existing system and much cheaper than actually buying expensive new components. Also a good way to try different cases and find what you like.
Keep this note handy. If you need to upgrade later, you’ll have solid info. When this rig fails or better options appear, you’ll be ready. Swapping your 8700K won’t make much of a difference compared to Zen 2 chips—especially in games with under six threads, they’d probably lag more. Overclocking them really pushes performance limits. I once had an 8600K, which was super strong for gaming. Upgrading now probably won’t help much; the Zen 2 features don’t seem to be a gap your 8700K can’t fill. PCIe 4.0 matters mainly for SSDs, and until cards exceed the 2080 Ti, PCIe 3.0 x16 isn’t a big issue.
Sure, you could save the money in some unknown type of investment or fund.
Money doesn't have to be spent. But you can always... buy a car, buy clothes, invest, buy sweet pimping headphones, a bike, tattoos, piercings, etc etc etc. Again,you don't have to spend it. But I have a 19 year old and I've been 18, so I understand you can't even comprehend what I just wrote Enjoy your new PC.
