Connectors for 3080 and power supplies
Upgraded my GPU without considering the 3080's 3x8 slots. I saw that some power cables to my PSU are daisy-chained in pairs of 2x8, so using two of those would leave one cable hanging with an 8-pin exposed. Is that safe? Also, does a 750-watt PSU provide enough power for this setup?
Two cables suffice, providing 150W each plus an additional 75W from the PCIe slot, reaching a total of 375W. Several 3080s can handle this amount (available stock is 320W).
If there are three PCIe ports, I recommend connecting with three distinct cables.
It appears you're asking about the Model 3080 and its specifications. You're also referencing a setup with three cables and noting its power output, which is around 415 watts.
It's a Strix 3080 model. I'm not sure what it's linked to, but my 750w power supply is already using three of its PCIe ports (one for the GPU). That leaves me with just one slot left for another cable. Probably I'll need a larger PSU with more connections.
They appear to have put a lot of effort into the Mobo, leaving aside the 20-pin which is also linked to it.
