Hi, your setup is a bit confusing. The PCIe card uses an 11-pin USB connector, but your motherboard only has two internal USB ports that are 9 pins each. You’ll need to find a way to adapt the 11-pin plug to fit a 9-pin connector—possibly by using a cable adapter or a different port if available. Let me know if you’d like help with alternatives!

It seems you might want to keep those two extra pins loose. Here’s the link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkStatio...d-p/748699 However, the wiring worries me. The usual USB color codes say red means +5V, but that red wire isn’t going to the right spot on a standard USB front panel header.

Yes, that wiring choice avoids connecting the black cable. It’s a safe setup. If the connections are mixed up, it could cause issues and might damage components. Be careful with the wiring to prevent problems.

No one is certain about this. I prefer avoiding guesswork, especially since it might harm my motherboard.

The wiring might differ from standard colors since this isn't a USB cable but connects to a PCIE Wi-Fi + Bluetooth adapter with an unusual plug. It seems the black wire won’t connect properly if two pins are left hanging. You managed to get it working by allowing those pins to overhang.

It might be too late, but I just found the answer today. If you only need to add Wi-Fi, just plug in the card. For BT, you'll have to re-pin some connections. You'll need a spare USB 2.0 cable—just connect one end with the header for a motherboard and the other with the plastic header where the new pins will go. This video explains how to remove the pins and reinsert them from the card. I included photos showing where I re-pinned the connectors and the cable I used. It’s pretty straightforward and should work on my setup. I hope this helps someone later.
