Hey everyone, I've been facing some odd internet problems since setting up my new computer. Sometimes when I power it on, the connection drops unexpectedly. I can still watch YouTube videos and search Google, but once I click a link on Google, it stops working and I lose any bookmarks I saved. Also, during games like Rust or Discord, I can play for a while before getting blocked. A reset seems to help, but I'm not sure why. Anyone have ideas or steps I should try? I've already tried network resets, uninstalled all adapters in Device Manager, flushed DNS, and refreshed the IP. Thanks for your time!

Please tell me what you mean by "rest of your network setup" so I can understand and respond appropriately.

The only other person in the house uses a laptop occasionally and doesn’t have problems. Their phone stays connected to Wi-Fi and functions normally. Switching to my phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot doesn’t improve the connection.

I encountered a comparable issue earlier, where many websites froze (except Google). I also experienced timeouts during Discord calls and games, and the internet stayed down for about an hour unless I rebooted my modem. It turned out to be a DNS problem. Switching to Google's public DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) and Cloudflare's (1.1.1.1, 1.1.0.0) resolved the matter. A likely reason was that my ISP's default DNS wasn't stable. The troubleshooting involved checking pings to public IPs; success indicated DNS was the issue. Hope this assists.

My internet behavior kept changing again, I switched my DNS settings as suggested, let's find out what impact it had. Another odd occurrence is that while I can still stream YouTube videos, I’m unable to access the router through my browser—super strange.
