Hello. I recently adjusted a few settings on my home network and have experienced unusual performance in online games. I’ve noticed occasional ping issues and brief interruptions lasting about 10 to 15 seconds, followed by normal operation. These events occur on my desktop PC and affect games like League of Legends and Apex Legends. The modifications involved setting up a Raspberry Pi with an Ethernet connection as a DNS server using Pi-Hole, though I had to manually enter the DNS address on each device because my ISP router restricts network-wide changes. Additionally, I connected a 5-port network switch for my Xbox and Nintendo Switch after running out of Ethernet ports on the Raspberry Pi. My current setup looks like this: ISP Router (Huawei HG8145V5) --Network Switch ---Xbox Series S ---Nintendo Switch --Raspberry pi --Desktop PC 1 --Desktop PC 2 I also disabled IPv6 on both desktop PCs, as it was interfering with the Pi-Hole DNS. Despite these changes, latency and speed tests show no significant drop. Based on my research, Pi-Hole shouldn’t be the cause since the DNS is only used once during connection setup. The problem persists even when most devices are offline, suggesting another factor at play. Your system specs are: Windows 10 Pro 19045 64 Bit B660 GAMING X DDR4 (BIOS F21), Intel i5-12600KF, 32 GB 3200 MHz, Nvidia RTX 3060, Cooler Master MasterWatt 650W.
