Ah, your laptop needs NetBIOS enabled—it’s the method you’re trying to employ (it relies solely on MAC broadcast). This works fine for local LAN setups that use a hub (before switches) or coaxial cables with proper connectors. It should function over TCP/IP, though it might require some time—perhaps a few hours—to update. If it doesn’t activate immediately, open a Command Prompt with admin privileges and type `notepad.exe c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts`. Add a line like: 192.168.0.1 telstra-modem and save. The changes should take effect instantly afterward. Use the Tab key to space entries, even for localhost. Don’t alter DNS servers; all IPs are managed by DHCP. Your modem should automatically assign MAC addresses, DNS settings, and gateway information. It usually needs a LAN port—personally, I rarely connect Wi-Fi to my main system, just using it for laptop phones. If your modem isn’t accessible via admin-only cable connections, you should be able to modify it.

The text file would likely display the specified content after adding the line. To insert it properly, ensure you place the new line within the correct section of the file and use appropriate formatting (like indentation or markers) so it appears as intended. Let me know if you need further clarification on placement!

Adjust accordingly; the main point remains clear. Just to note, adding it at the end works too.

I also checked the beginning and the end, but no alternative solutions appeared.
