Connectivity Problems
Connectivity Problems
Your network setup is unclear. Check if the modem/router works with other devices on your PC without using Windows 11, and verify if pinging 192.168.0.1 succeeds on your Windows 11 system.
Begin by connecting to your modem using its IP address. If your network falls within the 169.x.x.x range, you won’t have access. Many routers restrict access to wired connections only, which could be why you can’t connect. After logging in, verify the device’s host settings and ensure a DNS page is available for configuration. Add Telstra-modem as a record and assign the IP address you’re using—typically as an A record. This will allow all connected clients to locate it automatically. As a tip, open Command Prompt with admin privileges and run ipconfig /all to see the gateway address. If your network uses a private IP range (192.0.x.x or 10.x.x.x), you’ll need that gateway address to connect properly.
Ugh! - I really dislike these kinds of issues. Are you linked to your network through Ethernet or Wi-Fi? No matter which you use, switch to the other one. If it still doesn’t work, it’s probably a Windows problem; if it does, it might be a driver issue.
Never rely on Ethernet for admin access unless your device supports it, such as Cisco routers. Use a console cable instead.
I verified all drivers via Ethernet, but it still doesn't function. Reminder: I've reinstalled Windows, reset network settings, performed a fresh wipe and installation, etc. So it seems the problem isn't with Windows itself. Given I've used many different ISO images and USB drives for installers, and Microsoft ISO works well on other systems too, the issue likely lies elsewhere. It also worked properly with the modem on 10, but on 11 it's failing while all others are fine. Sadly, I still need 11 to proceed. Edited September 1, 2023 by Furball159. Added a Note
Your modem only supports wireless management through a web interface on the router's page. The remaining ports are USB for devices like printers or storage, DSL, WAN, and LAN. It has a DNS page, but it appears to be using Telstra's DNS only, with no secondary provider. I tried Cloudflare and Google DNS, but they were disabled. I returned to Telstra and confirmed the IP range is 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.254. Your laptop is within that range, and the lease day is set to one day. You're unsure what else to do—any other suggestions?
