I began playing COD Black Ops Cold War and my connection type is set to moderate. I attempted to switch it to open, but without success. I've adjusted ports in my router, yet nothing has changed. The in-game settings recommend opening port 3074, which I did. I also looked at videos suggesting additional ports to open, which I followed. Still, nothing has improved. I changed my network type between private and public, and back again, but the issue persists.
I discovered a few peculiar problems. I enabled the game through the firewall, but when I close and reopen it, it reverts to its original state. On the firewall page, there are multiple entries for COD Black Ops Cold War—some labeled as COD Modern Warfare, most are public, but one is private and another isn't selected. Changing both to public, then closing the firewall page, brings it back to its previous condition.
I also watched some videos suggesting checking router properties in the Windows 11 network folder. When I right-click the router icon and select properties, it states that the properties for this item are not available. I'm unsure what this means or if it relates to my problem.
I'm not sure why I'm facing such difficulties. Others I play with say it's straightforward and they didn<|pad|> to encounter no issues. I'm using Windows 11 with a wired connection to a router connected to the ISP modem, and I don't use the router directly on the modem.
My link always suggested a moderate setting and it never led to any problems. The same happened with other COD games before. If you can play, what are your concerns so I can better grasp your situation?
haven't been playing for a while but hasn't caused any problems I'm aware of. It's not clear if matchmaking would be faster with open versus moderate settings, as it usually takes a few seconds to find a group. That might be normal even on open. The game mentions that open could make it easier to find matches, which is good for me since my group is also on open and I don't want to delay the process.
When CoD4 was released, I faced the same problem. It turned out there are multiple ports you need to open, not just one. Looking up the ports required for an Open connection type might provide some guidance. I believe certain ports are tailored for both the ISP and the router, though I’m not sure.
I get what you're aiming for, but if you're not experiencing any problems in the game, I wouldn't be concerned. I've consistently had a mild warning in those games that didn't affect the outcome.
