I'm glad to hear about your new son! Your setup has changed quite a bit since you moved. The Ethernet speed dropped significantly after the room relocation. You might want to check if the cable is still secure or consider using a different port on your router. If possible, upgrading to a higher-speed Ethernet cable could help restore the original performance.

The updated position is probably on another circuit breaker. Consider checking for hardwiring or, if unsuccessful, try Wi-Fi.

Powerline is a decent idea for those who struggle to find an Ethernet cable at home, but it often falls short in many cases. Its effectiveness depends on your home wiring setup. If running Ethernet is straightforward, that’s ideal. Otherwise, 5.0GHz Wi-Fi would be the better choice if you manage to get a strong signal.

I thought this would be the situation. Disappointing, as it has consistently functioned well for me over many years across various homes. It just needed to come to pass eventually.

It might be an older adapter model. The newer versions I've seen work better because they support all three wires. This assumes your home wiring is fairly recent and follows current standards. For basements or crawl spaces, installing Ethernet is straightforward. You could also attempt it in the attic—just be careful. If needed, you can run it outside as a backup.

Absolutely, I’d definitely use Ethernet. It’s probably the same issue as the others—different circuits are leading to connectivity problems and delays.
