Hi everyone, I’m facing some trouble with my game download speeds. Platforms like Steam, Ubisoft, Epic Games, and Origins usually report around 10MB/s. But when I check on sites like internetspeed.net and bredbandskollen, my connection is between 72-80 Mbps. I’ve tried resetting the router and changing settings, but nothing seems to help. I’m using Ethernet and just want some advice—any tips would be great!

Hello, speed tests are typically conducted in megabits per second. These units differ from the standard measurements. ISPs employ them to enhance the perception of your internet speed. Steam gauges in megabytes per second. This suggests your connection is functioning properly.

Do you receive the value you expect? Megabits and megabytes differ; there are 8 megabits in a megabyte. Therefore, when you get 10 megabytes from Steam, it equals approximately 80 megabits.

Hello, thank you for sharing. I understand you're looking at a balance of 100 up and 100 down.

You seem to be mixing things up. The units matter—MBit and MB/s measure data rates, while bits per second relate to processing speed. There’s a distinction between them. Also, remember that 8 bits make one byte. You’re getting similar speeds, but the context is important.

You can never reach your maximum potential—you pay for it. That seems to be the case.
