Hi, I’ve been getting Steam games for roughly 10-15 Mb/s for a year. My overall download speed has stayed around 10-15 Mb/s. Lately though, it’s been limited to about 1.5 Mb/s. I’m using a TP Link Av500 and it works great, but when I launch the app it shows a power line rate of around 120 Mbps (about 12 Mb/s), which seems correct. Still, when I try to download a game now, it’s stuck at 1.5 Mb/s. I’ve reset my modem, router, Ethernet cards, PC, and network settings, but nothing changed. Any advice? Thanks!

It’s not feasible for me since my router is too distant from my PC to connect a cable to it.

It didn’t change much. My download speed remains limited, and I’m still using a 5GHz connection. It might just be a problem I can’t fix.

A helpful way to remember is that each byte contains 8 bits. When downloading games on Steam, are you seeing 10–15 MegaBytes per second (MB/s) or 10–15 Megabits per second (Mbps)? That’s a big difference. Second, what is your internet speed in Megabits per second? Third, does it still occur when connected directly to the router via Ethernet? It’s probably an issue with your ISP’s line.
