I previously enjoyed smooth 30-50 ping in games such as Valorant and Fortnite, but around 8 months ago my ping has remained steady near 90-100 in Fortnite and much higher in other titles. I switched the router recently, yet nothing improved. What options do I have?
I'm experiencing slow internet on Ethernet, especially during gaming and online tests. My neighbors with the same ISP are seeing much better performance. My own ping has dropped over time.
It might be due to your ISP's node being overloaded or having outdated hardware that hasn't been updated in a while. Your modem could also have an overly complex routing table directing you through the ISP's network. Have you turned it off and on again, or is your modem still being provisioned?
It could be related to your computer, what type of computer do you have (specs etc).. I know it is a technical question, but do you have any software installed like "killer networking" (comes with some computers) or other software hat could be applying QOS on your internet? What type of router do you have? Do you have another computer at home, does it get the same ping and results on speedtest (while on ethernet?) If you don't does one of your nearby friends have a laptop where they can try your connection (trying to narrow down if it is your computer or your internet)..
