What kind of Ethernet cable do you have? Have you experimented with another one? What are your Wi-Fi connection speeds?
Cat 5e should work, but it might be the cable quality that’s an issue—similar problems I’ve experienced before. The 25/25 wired speed is really low and suggests either your router is poor or there’s a problem elsewhere. If you get solid 100/100 wired and still only 25/25 on Wi-Fi, then your Wi-Fi setup is clearly not set up correctly.
One client faced slow gigabit speeds, we suggested CAT 6 cables and it resolved the issue.
Properly rated Cat5e performs well at gigabit and even 2.5 gigabit speeds. CCA cables aren't meeting the requirements and can lead to significant issues. Cuts in the cable will prevent you from reaching gigabit performance. A new cable probably replaced a substandard or damaged one.
