Connection problems with the game.
I've experienced some connection problems lately. I'm playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, focusing on the free version. It's frustrating because the game feels extremely slow and unstable. While others with similar setups don't have issues, I often face long load times, crashes, and texture loading failures. My PC and Wi-Fi are solid, but I've noticed this lag is worse than usual. Sometimes I see "packet bursts" or the game freezes, even though my connection seems fine. No other games seem to have these problems. I'm using an RTX 4060 and a Ryzen 5 5600G, keeping settings low, but it's still not playable.
Do you connect to your 4060 or use HDMI/DP on the motherboard? Are you using maximum VRAM? Which storage device powers the game? Please share your complete system specifications.
They suggest connecting to the GPU directly, using DP, which works well with an SSD. The system specs include a 4060 processor, 5600g CPU, 16GB RAM at 3200MHz, 2TB SSD, and an external Intel PCIe Wi-Fi 6 card. The motherboard model is unspecified.
Could MW2 be reaching the maximum capacity of the 4060s VRAM? Would you need to repeatedly load assets instead of relying on caching? Have you adjusted any Wi-Fi settings recently? For instance, strong 5GHz speeds might be offset by a slightly unstable connection that becomes more apparent during gaming than when downloading files. What are your upload, download, and ping speeds? Also, what PCIe Wi-Fi card model are you using—do you know its generation and slot configuration (like PCIe Gen 4 x16 for GPUs)? It’s possible you have fast Wi-Fi to the card but slow processing through the PCIe slot if it isn’t set up properly.
