I checked the Ethernet connection on my desktop and received the error "Ethernet" lacks a valid IP setup.

Have you assigned a fixed IP to your Wi-Fi card or network interface? Consider enabling both automatic IP assignment and automatic DNS resolution. If these options don’t work, remove the Wi-Fi adapter and NIC from Device Manager, keep the drivers intact, restart the device, and attempt again.
