Mobo is an Asus B650E-F model. I powered it on and checked for a network connection, but there was none. I connected via Wi-Fi temporarily. The motherboard integrates the chipset, and it's an Intel I225-V rev 3 processor. I've already tried several fixes: restarted the system without results, re-seated the cable at both ends, used a different port on the switch, verified BIOS settings, and even disabled the network adapter before re-enabling it. In Device Manager, the device isn't listed at all. I haven't tried another cable yet to see if it's available. If it doesn't appear in Windows, that might not help. I'm considering updating the BIOS just in case, though it seems more relevant for Zen 5 rather than my current Zen 4 CPU. Still, I'm open to suggestions. Another network card could be an option if this doesn't work. The warranty is still active, but I don't want to replace it just for this issue. If nothing works, I might need a different NIC.

It doesn’t appear in the device manager, possibly indicating a hardware issue. It might have been damaged. Do you have any extra PCIe ports available? Another way to check would be to run a live Ubuntu system and see if it recognizes the device.

It's definitely worth considering. If it's soldered rather than a module, it shouldn't be a loose connection. There are PCIe slots available, and I'm already checking the current pricing for a 2.5GbE connection. A solid plan. I'll see if I have an extra USB stick ready to use later. Still planning to test the BIOS and cable first—not expecting any major changes. At least that eliminates those two options.

Ensure the CMOS is completely cleared by removing the battery for at least half an hour. Also, it's a good practice to verify the system in Linux as well.

It doesn't show up at all in Device Manager, so there is nothing to update. I've done the bios update, which includes resetting the bios settings. No change. I do have one new unknown device now, but I think that is from the AGESA update and online solution for that one seems to be reinstall latest chipset drivers which I'm about to do.

I made a minor adjustment to the image. When hidden devices are displayed, the system records their presence yet marks them as disconnected. Essentially, they’re not currently active. It seems more probable they’re no longer functioning.

Did you modify the graphics card or reposition it right before this occurred? I believe the Ethernet module and its parts are located to the left of the PCIe port, and when fitting a video card it's possible to strike the PCB with the metal bracket. I injured a Realtek chip this way on a socket AM3 motherboard. I'm uncertain since I can't locate any high-resolution images of the board. The error code suggests it might be an issue with the link between the chip and the PCIe lane traces or possibly a damaged oscillator/crystal.

Hardware remained unchanged after shutting down the system last night and restarting this morning. The sole visible effect was pressing the power button down.

I noticed a comment suggesting something might have gone wrong. To be sure, I reinserted the cable and double-checked. Green light confirmed. I moved it slightly to test for loose connections, but the light stayed on. It seemed to vanish for a few days before resuming normally. Not sure what this means!
