My WiFi drops intermittently every half hour for brief periods. It doesn’t occur on other devices in my home or when using Ethernet. I’ve changed adapters and adjusted network settings, but the issue persists. I’ve kept all USB ports active and set the adapter to non-battery saver mode. I attempted to remove the device via the control panel, yet it didn’t work. I’m also seeing error messages in the device logs.

Did you attempt removing existing drivers and replacing them with those from the maker’s site? Are additional USB connections being used? Have you experimented with a different connection point?

Attempted to install drivers from the manufacturer's site. Installation message stated incompatibility with your operating system. Downloaded the correct driver but still received the error. Tested connecting via both front and back panels without any changes.

What Windows version are you running? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit? Also, have you connected any additional devices via USB, and how many are there?

I am applying the 2020-01 Windows 10 Update for x64 systems (version 1903) with 64-bit architecture. Additional peripherals are linked via USB. There are four more devices attached, all positioned on the back panel of the machine, distinct from the WiFi adapter.

Use only essential USB devices such as your WiFi adapter, keyboard, and mouse. Ensure the WiFi adapter is located in a rear USB port.

Essentially everything I connected is working. My keyboard supports two USB ports and my headphones use USB. I attempted using the rear USB port for the adapter, but it didn’t help. I’ll try again. Could the issue be linked to the errors you saw in Device Manager?

Do you have another device that supports the adapter so we can test whether the issue repeats? If it does, the problem likely lies with the chipset. Otherwise, it may be related to your Windows setup or a recent update. So far, no one with a comparable adapter has managed to resolve this. I’d consider swapping in a different WiFi adapter, ideally PCIe with an Intel-based chipset.

Great thanks! I hadn’t considered using a PCIe card, but it could be useful since Ethernet works well. Changing the WiFi adapters didn’t resolve the issue either. This problem has been ongoing for about three months, so it’s not just a Windows update.
