You're experiencing intermittent network instability when idle or using limited internet. The issue seems tied to your network card behavior, not the router itself. Consider checking for firmware updates or driver issues specific to your ASUS ROG G20 model. For detailed logs, you can use network monitoring tools like Wireshark or built-in system diagnostics to capture connection events.

Consider using an ethernet connection instead, and switch off the wifi to determine if the issue persists.

Checked the AP logs for wireless client connections and disconnections. Have you experimented with alternative authentication methods, such as WPA2-only instead of WPA/WPA2?

What is the model of your wireless router or gateway? Are there any additional network devices connecting between your computer and the ISP connection? What are the wireless configuration options on the router? Remove the existing Realtek 8821AE WLAN drivers and replace them with the newest version available on the Realtek website. Set up and launch WiFi Analyzer, then share the channel information from both 2.4GHz and 5GHz sections on the 'Analyze' page.

There might be interference from nearby Wi-Fi devices like your neighbors' routers. Switching the channel your Wi-Fi uses could help, though it might require some testing and adjustments.
