I first assumed the Ethernet was connected to the router. You could swap your switch for a router and then configure the existing router in AP mode. Linking LANs to LANs achieves similar results, though network experts might find this approach confusing and potentially incorrect.
I’d first verify how you connect to the apartment, especially if they’re using NAT or routing on their side. Make sure only one device handles routing on that network. If not, follow the setup I sketched. Simply connect your current router to the switch or new router in AP mode or LAN mode, and it should function. You could also try running a cable from your PC to the router temporarily to test if it recognizes the printer. I really dislike printers and even more so network printers—they’re frustrating. Just to be sure, check for any other factors blocking the connection.
