Hi there, I've been having issues with my Netgear Nighthawk X6 R7900 lately. Sometimes the internet drop from it or I get about 3mbps instead of 450 mbps. When this happen I do ping the router and get inconstant ping on lan wired connection. The ping is constant for a while to 1ms but have bumps to 600ms sometime I even get timeout. My stepson's have issues while gaming when the issue happens. I did traceroute but didn't give good insights. The fact that pinging the router is showing issues show to me that the router or something on my network is causing this issue and I don't think it is ISP related. When the issue happen it also drop the wi fi sometime but lan remain working. Is there any way to see the traffic by device on this kind of router ? I would like to make sure that when this happens it is not because of high traffic. My network is a little more complex than an average home setup. I have 2 8 ports switches, one 4 port switch, one extender (EX6200), a circle (parental control). For the lan device I have my server (running couple of VM's, and a plex media server) my personal PC and laptop all hook up to a switch. My step son's pc in their respective rooms and Xbox and smart TV and that's pretty much it. We are 6 in the house with about 2 personal device each cellphones, laptop tablet. I also have a domain pointing at my house network having my server as DMZ which shouldn't receive much traffic because it is just for toying right now but I can't be sure. I verified my server while this was happening and the network adapters were not seeing a lot of traffic (in task manager at least). As for the circle I did put all meaningful device (server router etc out of it) and tried to deactivate it when the issue happen but it doesn't resolve it. I am starting to think to replace my router but I don't think that is the issue. I am thinking of getting something industrial like a FortiGate or a firebox to manage the traffic and use my routers as wi fi access point only. What do you guys think ?

Operating your server behind a DMZ poses a vulnerability. Web crawling bots might detect open ports and attempt to download data. Additionally, an exposed network connection can lead to further security breaches.
