We're using Ziply Fiber and currently experiencing internet issues. The problem seems to be with the router, specifically the ASUS RT AC68U. When connected via Ethernet, devices connect but can't browse websites. Sometimes they work for searches, but links break. Plugging the laptop directly into the modem resolves the issue completely. It performs better than the previous ASUS router we had. Restarting the router didn't help. A full factory reset was attempted, but settings still show inconsistent WAN connections. After about seven years, it's unclear if a router can simply fail. Could you say goodbye?

It's conceivable an outdated router might stop working unexpectedly or display dying signs. You could attempt two solutions: swap the Ethernet cable from the modem to the router and replace the router's power adapter.

Well... I've noticed similar patterns after power surges and lightning hits on nearby routers. When the connection uses copper, like ADSL, it could simply be a malfunction.
