Who provides internet access? Which plan or speed tier are you on? Do you have a dedicated modem or a router built into your setup? What model numbers are associated with your modem or router? Are there certain games that behave differently? If yes, which ones stay online and which disconnect?
Check if you've swapped the cable between your PC and the modem/router. What type of connection do you have? (Cable, DSL, Fiber to home, LTE/4G, etc.) Are you using one device (modem and router combined) or separate units (two boxes linked)? Which game is impacted? Are other games affected too? Are you running Killer Control Center software with your motherboard? Which country or region are you in? To help troubleshoot, run a traceroute using this link: https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/...raceroute- Would you like me to do the same for these addresses: 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, 147.135.0.102? Please share the results. Also, please run a ping test via the large start button for about a minute and take a screenshot. This will show if the problem is local or network-related. Finally, run a speed test at https://www.speedtest.net and send us the outcome.
My internet service provider is quite unreliable, mainly CenturyLink. I'm in Florida where good ISPs are scarce. They offer a 25MB download speed and claim to be around 2MB up, but that's not always accurate. I'm using their Modem Router combo (a single box), which has the Zyxel C3000Z model number. I'm connected via a wired setup. Many games work well with this configuration—Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, Battlefield 1, etc.
I've already attempted to change the cables. Initially I switched from cat5 to cat5e, then to cat6, but the issue remained unresolved. It seems I likely have a DSL connection and it's a single unit. The games listed above are present. I'm using the Killer Control Center, but I'm unsure if it impacts my network performance. I'm in Florida, United States. I wanted to share this information while conducting those tests you recommended. Additionally, I've noticed another problem where I can't hear game chat, only other sounds. For instance, when people are talking in Rainbow 6 Siege, the icon appears but I don't hear them. I can still hear shooting and similar sounds. This issue began about a week ago. Another concern is audio crashes that occur while playing random games. Suddenly all sounds stop, followed by a long buzz lasting around 30 seconds, after which it disappears. During this buzzing, if I play a YouTube video, it pauses and shows loading. The audio for my games stops until I restart, and for YouTube, I need to refresh the page or restart my browser. These problems are really frustrating.
Examining the ping results, the +PDV figure highlights inconsistency in your connection when reaching different sites. This points to a notable instability in your internet service, likely tied to your ISP. Reviewing the three traceroutes you ran, hop 2 remains fairly stable across all tests, with minimal variation. In contrast, hops 3 and 4 show much larger swings, reaching up to 160ms on the final route. This implies congestion within your ISP’s local network might be the cause. I’m using DSL in the UK, which means our equipment is relatively modern. I’m also employing a separate modem and router—one from Huawei (provided by BT Openreach) and another Ubiquiti EdgeMAX EdgeRouter X-SFP. Overall, my setup is quite advanced. For comparison, my own ping was measured via Wi-Fi as well. Here are the traceroutes:

I also noticed my router occasionally timed out, which might be worth addressing—upgrading to a newer model could help. My suggestion: if you need simplicity, go with Amplifi; for more features and control, Synology products are top-notch.**
