I recently replaced my router since the basic modem/router from my internet provider was installed 5 to 6 years ago. I checked some reviews and bought the Nighthawk AX4. I changed my TV Ethernet cables to connect it to the existing modem/router, but it felt a bit off. It worked for a while, but now it keeps stopping unexpectedly and the internet is slower than before. The new router supports both 2.4 and 5G options, while the old one only had its own 2.4 and 5G networks. I’m really confused and don’t have much experience with networking.

I suspect a double-nat situation might be at play, along with some other performance problems from having multiple routers. If you have an all-in-one device, look for a "Bridge Mode" setting to switch the routing off and let the new router handle it. Once you know how to activate that mode, your issues may improve. Could you share the model of the hardware and your ISP?

I've checked, but it seems unclear how to activate bridge mode. Could you provide more details?

I followed a YouTube tutorial to switch my setup into bridge mode. Now there are only two 2.4 and one 5G connection available, but performance remains poor. My computer is located across the hall and struggles to stream YouTube or play online games. According to reviews, this router should perform well.
