Hello there! I faced a strange issue with my Wi-Fi adapter yesterday. It felt like a simple solution but turned out to be more complex than I thought. I was using my PC normally—playing games and browsing the web—when suddenly it lost connection. I didn<|pad|>'s things recently or did anything unusual, and it happened abruptly. In the Control Panel under Network and Internet, my Wi-Fi shows "attempting to authenticate" and seems stuck trying to connect forever. I can still browse and see available networks, but all my other devices work fine. This suggests the problem might be with my motherboard's built-in Wi-Fi adapter (Intel R Wireless-AC 9560 160MHz). I've tried several fixes: resetting the CMOS, updating drivers and BIOS, reinstalling the adapter, disabling/re-enabling it, and using the Network Connections Diagnostics. It worked for a few minutes before needing to re-authenticate. Also, I made sure the power-saving option wasn't turned on. I'm curious if anyone else has encountered this issue. It was unexpected, as I wasn't doing anything new or downloading anything recently. Thanks for your help! Tyler (Seattle)

I encountered this problem with the beta version of Windows 11 about a year ago. It worked on an AORUS motherboard with the B450 variant, but the only fix was reinstalling the OS. I think it might help to boot into a Linux distribution through USB and check how everything functions. This could reveal hardware issues or problems at a lower OS level.

I've attempted to switch from Ethernet to Wi-Fi to check if that would stabilize the Wi-Fi adapter, but it didn't work.

No, the Ethernet cable functions properly, but Wi-Fi operates differently.

Ethernet functions smoothly at the anticipated rates, while Wi-Fi halts with an "Authenticating..." message. (It can still detect nearby Wi-Fi networks.)

No, there isn't a yellow caution sign next to your Wi-Fi in Device Manager. Also, there are no error codes reported.

Device Manager shows no yellow warning signs, and the sole notification appears when trying to Diagnose in the Network Connections Control Panel (refer to screenshot).

It seems the adapter might be the issue, especially after reinstalling the driver. The "access point" could refer to your router, assuming no other devices are connected between it and your PC. Are you sure it's just the main router?

I struggle to accept the route might be the issue since all my other devices are working fine. I plan to reinstall Windows as suggested, otherwise it seems like a hardware problem.
