It seems you're considering consolidating your devices onto a single network. Are you relying on an additional router for switching purposes?

I don't understand what you're referring to (not a network expert). To connect everything together, I'd need a very long Ethernet cable from my PC to the modem. The issue is that my main PC's Wi-Fi is limited to 144Mb/s on the 2.4GHz band, which seems too slow. I think there might be a problem—maybe the adapter isn't working properly or Windows is causing the issue. It doesn't show any 5GHz support in the advanced properties, even though both my PC and modem support 802.11ac. Ethernet should give me about 100MB/s, but it's only showing 10MB/s. The IP configuration also lists a 5GHz radio, which suggests something is still wrong.

Change the second router to AP mode, turn off the DHCP server, and ensure FreeNAS appears on the main network.

I adjusted the interface metric in the adapter settings myself. Now my Wi-Fi card is set to port 2 and Ethernet to port 1. If you're curious why I changed it manually, it's because leaving it automatic causes delays before it responds. EDIT: that setting doesn't work the other way around.

I use the hostname for communication with the FreeNAS server.

I would expect its hostname or IP address. Everything was completed and configured according to whatever Freenas had set it to. I’ll just link it to the main modem and handle the slow Wi-Fi speed issue.

Using a hostname might cause Windows-related problems. An IP connection tends to work better. Are you accessing the server via File Explorer?

Absolutely, that's correct. The network settings in Windows are located under the network tab.

I'm not aware of the FreeNAS server's IP address. Have you attempted to assign it as a network share?
