I was thinking about getting 2 gigabits of internet at my new place. My Netgear CM1100 modem can handle 2.5 gigabits with link aggregation. I’m curious if anyone knows a router that works with it. It seems most guides talk about switching to a NAS or similar setup, but I’m not sure how to get from the modem to the router for that speed.

Check with the cable operator about their support for this scenario. LAG was adopted mainly before 2.5 and 5 Gbps Ethernet became common. Many providers likely phased out LAG support, focusing instead on 2.5 Gbps ports for modems. Building your own router with PFsense could be an alternative. You’d need to confirm if PFsense handles LAG, but I’m not aware of consumer models that do so. PFsense is usually preferred for niche or unconventional use cases.

It (pfsense) does support LAG and provided OP isn't trying to get a single stream at 2Gbps then it would do fine.
