I mistakenly connected my USB C to a USB A port, which caused a power surge warning. The device didn’t shut down, but it continued running after I reset it. I successfully copied about 3.2 GB of data without issues. It seems the problem was with the USB port itself, not my motherboard. Since my USB C is working fine and I’m concerned about that specific port, I think this forum would be a good place to discuss it.

At this stage, it's just a matter of waiting.

If the device is functioning, you haven’t caused any damage yet. I recommend examining the port closely and ensuring nothing is bent or any connections are missing. A picture of the port would be very useful.

It's likely the USB controller cut off the connection before the short caused major harm. Consider powering off, disconnecting the PC from the outlet for a while, then reconnecting and restarting.

I checked the port and found nothing damaged. It seems I didn’t twist anything since I didn’t push it. The tiny USB-C connector simply slipped into the port.

It seems the device is still operational, so major issues are improbable. USB connections typically include a removable fuse to guard against excessive current and short circuits.

Because of the warning about the short circuit, it's likely safeguarded in some capacity.

I've been operating continuously for several hours and there are no problems. I'm still monitoring the USB A connection.
