G'Morning, All
I'm setting up a TVPC with an I7-9700t and an RTX 3050 8GB. The RTX 3050 will be connected via M.2 to PCIE. The TV has several HDMI inputs that can be switched remotely.
I intend to link the TV through one HDMI port to the RTX 3050 and another to the I-9700t's integrated graphics.
Will this setup work as expected?
Will it display the RTX 3050 video when you select its input, and the integrated graphics when the other is selected?
It seems quite simple to me. Is that accurate?
Please Advise, and TIA

To a certain degree. When a dedicated GPU is present, the iGPU gets turned off automatically. For laptops, it's possible to turn on iGPU and run both together. On desktops, this depends on the specific BIOS settings.

Aeacus,
Thank you for the reply. I am using an HP Elite Desk 800 G5 Mini, thus no provision for a GPU, other than over m.2. Power will also be external.
I had been under the impression that only when a monitor was 'seen' would a GPU, either internal or external, be active.

I don't believe this approach is correct. Either the GPU will be activated and ready to produce output, or it won't. Now power saving will occur if they are active, but that doesn't mean they're off.
My concern is why? If your aim is a HTPC, I'm sure the iGPU is enough for that. If you need to switch between gaming and regular use, it would be better to let the RTX 3050 idle as it does and keep the iGPU turned off regularly.
When I used a chip with built-in graphics, I installed a GPU just for decoding and simply used it. My current HTPC lacks integrated graphics, so I rely on a dedicated A380 (though that decision was somewhat impulsive—it was a GT1030 for a while).

This applies to AMD as well; during installation, the IGPG remains active while the dGPU is assigned as the primary GPU regardless of which one is connected simultaneously. This configuration can be adjusted in the BIOS, determining which GPU becomes the main one first.

In Windows settings, you set a main GPU by selecting the primary display, and applications will use the connected GPU accordingly. If both GPUs are present, you must manually configure each app/game in its own graphics settings to avoid conflicts.

Selecting the appropriate HDMI for the screen is just like plugging into one of two external screens, isn't it?

The two connections to the TV are there because the PC will only send one item at a time.

Since I only use the RTX 3050 while gaming and need remote selection, I think I could disable it through Device Manager if necessary.

An attempt to conserve energy? The RTX 3050 consumes minimal power even when displayed on a screen.

It's accurate to say that in both scenarios, windows or the apps/games are completely unaffected....
You can perform the test yourself, watch a video or play a game and briefly disconnect the HDMI connection. When you reconnect it, everything will resume as normal, with no interruption.
